After working with glass for so many years, I went through a short period when I wasn’t completely satisfied with my “station in art” so I went searching for something new. I found dolls and fabric and fiber which led to not only endless art and material exploration, but to a wonderful community of artists and friends.
I bravely attended a doll meeting in a local quilt shop and when I was instructed to stand up and introduce myself, one woman hollered, “ahhh, fresh meat”. She became my doll mentor, teacher, and very close friend, Pat Van Deusen. While Pat is no longer with us, her energy and spirit remains with so many. When I begin a new project I can’t help but think of Pat and say to myself, “Ok men, let’s get going, no fear!” That was her mantra and it helps to guide me through this art journey.
